Oscars for Day-Lewis?

By Chris - 15-02-2013 Rating:
Daniel Day-Lewis was born into the most artistic family possible - his mother was the actress Jill Balcon and his father was no less than the Poet Laureate Cecil Day-Lewis - so it is hardly surprising that he went on to become as strong an artist as he did. After leaving school he was left with two choices, enroll as a cabinet-maker's apprentice or work as an actor, and it was only after failing to be accepted for his carpentry apprenticeship that he joined the Bristol Old Vic Theatre's crew. It is incredible to think that one of the greatest acting talents of our era could have been lost to the world of carpentry so easily.

However, Daniel wasn't, and the Brit's acting career has flourished. He already has two Oscars, and is tipped to win a third in style with his brilliant performance in Lincoln. This is a man who is such a serious actor that he takes method acting to a new level - he simply does not come out of character for the entire length of filming, which as you can imagine causes a few problems behind the scenes!
