Out of Russia

Brian Grover was a brilliant, young engineer who seemed to have everything. In 1931 Brian Grover fled the world recession to seek fortune and adventure in Stalin's murderously dangerous Soviet Union. It was a move that was to dramatically change the course of his life. At the Bolshoi Ballet, in Moscow, he met a beautiful, young nurse named Ileana Petrova. Their meeting marked the beginning of a passionate and extra-ordinary love affair that was to enchant the world. Brian Grover was born in 1901. After graduating from Cambridge, he went to work in the oil business which eventually led him to Russia, where he married Ileana Petrova. After their reunion they relocated to a farm in South Africa. Ileana passed away in 1989, aged 92, and Brian died a few years later. Jim Rickards was born in 1967 in Newcastle-Upon-Tyne. After studying Politics and English at Manchester University he moved to London to take up a job in publishing.
