John Blake Publishing was well represented at the Alexandra Palace last week as the world's top 16 fought over one of the most prestigious prizes in the world of snooker. Former world champion Graeme Dott made it through to the quarter finals before unfortunately bowing out to Shaun Murphy in a close match. Despite this, though, it was another positive result for a man whose career has been pitted with personal and professional struggles, and whose autobiography can be found here.

Another former world champion, Ken Doherty, was in action as well, but this time from behind the microphone, as he joined the BBC commentary team. And he certainly knew what he was talking about, as he has enjoyed a career spanning over 20 years during which he competed with, and beat, the best, and which is detailed in his autobiography Life in the Frame.

And finally, who could forget JBP's author, world renowned trickster and former UK champion, John Virgo, who was also behind the microphone and whose distinctive voice is so well recognised that a major snooker event wouldn't be the same without him. His honest and deeply personal book Let Me Tell You About Alex is fantastic for its no holds barred attitude towards telling the real story behind the life of Alex 'Hurricane' Higgins, the most talented, and troubled, player to ever play the game. And keep an eye out for a book of John Virgo's classic snooker trick shots which is due to be published later this year!
