About The Author
Brian J Heard was a forensic chemist in the Metropolitan Police, New Scotland Yard, which he joined in 1964. Several years later he transferred to the Firearms and Ballistics section where he rose to the level of Deputy Head of the laboratory. In 1977 he left the New Scotland Yard for the Royal Hong Kong Police. In 2002 he retired as Director of the Bureau. His work on Firearms and Ballistics is widely recognised as the standard reference work on the subject.
