Tony Hart - Portrait of My Dad

A regular fixture on British television for over 40 years, Tony Hart entertained and inspired generations of children. In this heart-felt, very personal account of his life, his daughter Carolyn paints a complete portrait of her father. Drawing from her own experiences and the countless stories he shared with her, she offers an insight into his life - from his early childhood and time as a choirboy in London, serving in India as an officer in the 1st Gurkha Rifles, working as a freelance artist, and, of course, his work on Vision On, Take Hart, Hartbeat, and the other programmes that made him a household name. Carolyn Ross was born in Westminster in 1957. She joined the BBC in 1974 as a production secretary on Parkinson, Read All About It and the Multi-Coloured Swap Shop. She later worked at Teddington Studios for the Pinewood Group. Whilst producing cartoons gratis in every job she had ever had, she finally followed in her father's footsteps when a series of drawings were accepted and produced as greeting cards in 2006. She lives with her husband and son in North Buckinghamshire.
